Hi, I’m Gin Tran, a Vietnamese illustrator born and raised in Hanoi. I create picture books, character design and educational illustration with a colourful, playful style full of expressive faces, lively details and warmth. I work digitally in Photoshop, but I love keeping a soft, hand-drawn feel inspired by coloured pencils and crayons. I’m especially drawn to stories shaped by imagination, culture, education and adventure.I’m largely self-taught, and most of what I know has come from years of practice, real projects and learning from other artists along the way. I’ve worked professionally as a freelance illustrator for over three years, building my experience through children’s books, educational projects and collaborations with publishers, independent authors and creative teams worldwide, including Oxford University Press. I usually begin by getting to know the story and characters, then study references, develop sketches, refine them through feedback, and shape the final artwork with colour, texture and strong visual storytelling.Drawing has been part of me for as long as I can remember. I could happily spend hours with a blank sheet of paper and a pencil, and that quiet joy gave me confidence during difficult times. These days, my little family keeps me grounded and motivated. I love slow mornings with coffee and my partner, reading about different cultures, and staying cosy at home with our cat, especially on rainy days. More than anything, I hope my work leaves people feeling warm, capable and a little more connected to their own stories.
