Mari is from São Paulo, Brazil, where she can drive a few hours to get to the beach whenever she needs inspiration. Her journey with illustration began even before she learned to write. In college, she chose to study Literature at the renowned University of São Paulo (USP), seeking a solid foundation to enter the world of editorial illustration. After graduating, Mari officially began her career as an illustrator, working on the production of educational materials for various publishers in Brazil and around the world. Later on, she sought to refine her technique by studying Graphic Design at the Panamericana School of Art in São Paulo. Her relentless pursuit of new production techniques led her to develop a special fondness for woodcut printing, an art form that combines rusticity with a
wide range of creative possibilities, especially when applied to digital illustration.
