I’m Nisrina Luthfiyah, an illustrator based in South Tangerang, after being born, raised, and working for several years in Bandung. My work is shaped by love of manga and manhwa, and by projects connected to Indonesian traditional cultures and humanitarian initiatives. I create digitally, with focus on picture books and illustrated books, and I’m also open to comics and licensing. Rich textures, vibrant color, bold lighting, and fantasy- and culture-led storytelling are at the heart of my style, and I work best with clients who truly connect with that voice.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, then built my illustration practice through online courses, Youtube, and independent study, with a particular focus on children’s books. I began learning children’s book illustration in 2021, took my first unpaid collaboration in 2022, and landed my first professional children’s book project in 2023 after also illustrating three e-book covers. Meaningful projects include The Changing Sea, a 2026 collaboration with Monash University Indonesia; Perahu Baca Anisa for Gerakan Literasi Nasional Indonesia in 2024; and The Different Carrots, my first fable book. My process is collaborative and reference-driven, moving through character design, storyboard, sketches, line art, rough color, and final art. Clients value my communication, reliability, and my consistent ability to deliver files on time.As a child, I didn’t grow up in a book-filled home, so when I did get picture books, I noticed how much the illustrations affected my curiosity. That stayed with me. I started drawing everywhere I could, including tiles, mirrors, and walls, and found real joy in drawing and coloring. These days, I collect children’s books from around the world and read fantasy novels and murder mysteries for inspiration. I also love exchanging ideas with friends in local children’s book communities, and recently I’ve been learning to rollerblade to balance out long hours at my laptop. More than anything, I want my work to help people feel the emotions inside an image, whether that’s warmth, fear, sadness, or delight.
