In collaboration with innovative publisher Three Wishes, we developed the Peek-A-Who interactive preschool series, featuring two classic fairytale titles: Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. The books were conceived around a strong paper-engineering concept designed to build anticipation and encourage visual discovery as the story unfolds.

Each spread incorporates carefully positioned die-cut holes that align across multiple pages. As the reader turns each page, the layered cut-outs progressively reveal more of the final image, creating a sense of movement and narrative build within the physical structure of the book. This gradual reveal becomes a central storytelling device, guiding young readers through the story while encouraging curiosity and engagement.

A press-out magic wand is integrated into the book’s design, introducing an additional tactile and interactive element. Children are invited to use the wand to perform playful tricks on each spread, transforming the reading experience into an active and participatory moment. The wand interacts with the visual elements on the page, reinforcing the magical theme while encouraging imaginative play.

The books combine structural design with expressive illustration. Charming artwork by Elisa Venturini works in harmony with the paper-engineered layouts, bringing warmth, colour and a sense of enchantment to each page. The illustrations complement the reveal mechanism, ensuring that the layered imagery remains clear, engaging and visually rewarding as the pages turn.

The result is a highly interactive storytelling format that merges narrative, illustration and paper engineering to create a playful and memorable reading experience for preschool audiences.
