Mercè studied children Illustration at Pau Gargallo Arts and Crafts School in Badalona, Barcelona. After living in Barcelona for 20 years now she is based in her hometown, where she lives and works in a little studio in front of the beach. Mercè has been working as an illustrator for 32 years, doing theater set for children, Christmas campaigns and a lot of children’s books (185 to date!). She also works as a children’s literature teacher in postgraduate courses in Escola de la dona Francesca Bonnemaison (Art and Design School), EINA (Design and Art's University Center) and La LLotja, (Art and Design School), all of them in Barcelona. Passionate about ceramics techniques, engraving, graphic novels, and above all, she loves keeping up to date with international illustrators that she admires. Textile prints and ancient north European children literature are part of her work, and she devours children's books in book stores around the world when traveling, so she owns a huge library.
