Karolina Piotrowska is an illustrator, graphic designer, and painter based in Warsaw, Poland. She graduated from both the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (Faculty of Painting – Master of Arts) and the University of Warsaw (Faculty of Cultural Studies). She has been working with traditional publishing houses and self-publishers, working on everything from layout, illustrations, typesetting, cover designing, to prepping files for print. Her illustrations were also shown in children's magazines such as Honest History (US), Storytime Magazine (UK) and Polish magazine – Kumpel. She is passionate about nature, cinema, and culture. From the world of art, her inspirations are traditional art (painting, drawing) and traditional 2D animation. She always tries to imitate traditional drawing and painting techniques with her digital illustrations. She loves using texture in her work and creates her own digital textures, such as charcoal or crayon. She loves to create illustrations that engage an audience with a magical feeling, contrasting colors, and a bold composition.
