I’m Rizki Amalia Salsabila, based in Malang, Indonesia, and I’m a children’s book illustrator shaped by Javanese values of gentleness, politeness, and mutual respect. I create warm, high-contrast, intentionally minimalist digital art for babies and toddlers, using simple shapes, rounded characters, soft textures, and clear expressions to explore emotional literacy, daily routines, developmental milestones, and first words.
My illustration journey began in an intensive vocational high school focused on classical and digital animation, where I built a strong foundation in life drawing, anatomy, perspective, and visual storytelling. Learning to draw for motion taught me how to bring energy, weight, and narrative into still images. Since then, I continued through self-directed specialist training, staying current with industry-standard software while refining a style that sits between character design and editorial illustration. I work fully digitally, which lets me create crisp, high-contrast art, soft colored pencil textures, and prepare structurally precise files for board book layouts, bleed margins, and print requirements. My 5-year-old daughter Jenna, is a huge source of inspiration for me. Reading children’s books with my daughter every day sparked my love for this field in a very real way, and watching how my daughter responds to illustrations showed me just how much pictures can hold a child’s attention, feelings, and sense of wonder. That experience keeps my work playful, tender, and emotionally attentive. I want the children who see my illustrations as a safe space and feel the same little spark of magic I feel when a story opens in front of them.
