Hi, I’m Waldomiro Neto, a children’s illustrator and designer based in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil. My work is shaped by Brazil’s visual diversity, life in the countryside, and my love of nature and animals. I create illustrations for storybooks, educational materials, games, packaging and advertising, using expressive characters, playful colour and digital techniques that echo watercolour, crayon and marker textures.
My degree in Graphic Design sharpened my sense of form, colour and composition, and I’ve been working professionally since 2001. Over time, illustration became the heart of my practice, and today my work includes more than 30 children’s books published in Brazil and abroad, Storytime Magazine, Biblioteca Gralha Azul, and games for Adoleta Jogos. I usually begin with research and sketches on paper before moving into digital colour studies and final artwork. I also taught drawing and design on a Graphic Design degree for six years, which strengthened my critical eye and creative process.
A lot of what I draw still comes from childhood memories of the countryside, animals, school friendships, my grandparents’ farm and family trips. I’m married and have two daughters, and our days also include two little dogs, a fish and a budgie, so there’s always some movement and personality around me. I like a simple rhythm: early mornings, unhurried coffee, family time, cooking, off-road drives in my Jeep and, of course, ice cream. I hope my illustrations feel light, fun and full of imagination.
