Keeping safe and sane at home
At Collaborate it’s business as usual, but like many other companies we currently have our entire staff working remotely. It can be lonely and difficult to stay motivated, which is why it’s so important to check in with your co-workers regularly. Remember, you get by with a little help from your friends! We’ve been swapping tips and tricks for working from home, and here are some of our favourites;
- Keep something green in sight. It’s said to lift the spirits and help you feel less isolated! Bring a little houseplant over to your desk, or grab a flower from the garden to put in a glass of water.
- Schedule breaks for yourself and use them wisely. If you are finding it hard to concentrate and the temptation to pick up your phone and scroll becomes too much, it’s best to take short regular breaks instead of one long lunch. Use this time to check in on a colleague, friend or family member, take a walk around the house, and if you feel stressed it helps to do a few star jumps!
- Take advantage of the perks! Working from home has it’s challenges but you mustn’t be afraid to enjoy the good parts too. Cook a healthy lunch, wear your comfy trousers and use the time you would normally spend commuting to catch up on admin and clear your to-do lists.
Creative entertainment
We’re seeing a huge boost to book sales as schools close, with Nielsen reporting a 212% boost in ‘home learning’ titles alone! Books are a wonderful source of entertainment to help you escape the confines of four walls when it all gets too much, and it’s heartening to hear from families who say that if there’s anything we can do, it’s reading with our little ones.
