We are very excited to collaborate with Abrams on the cover illustration for Traitors’ Nest: A Novel by Frances Hardinge, from the Abrams YA list. Collaborate illustrator Meagan Young absolutely excels in high fantasy, painterly, and realistic illustrations for styles fitting MG to adult. The Traitors’ Nest cover illustration is heavily inspired by Meagan’s original portfolio piece Firebird, which the publisher originally wanted to use for the full jacket cover wrap. The illustration was adapted to best fit the content of the novel while keeping the brilliant painterly fire colors and otherworldly feel.

We also had a great experience working with Art Director Micah Fleming! Meagan did an amazing job turning around revisions for each pass of feedback from Micah and the Abrams team.

I was honored to work with Abrams for my first project with Collaborate. My Firebird piece is one of my favorites so it was wonderful to revisit and develop a new piece from those elements.
